06/20/20 I’ve got a new program, recommended by a fellow streamer and artist Arch M who does some amazing animation work. It’s gonna take a little time to get used to – I’ve been using trusty old GIMP, and hope it won’t take me too long to get used to Krita.
I’m going to start looking at drawing tablets, since I think it would be much less work to interface directly with the program than to do it the very roundabout way I have been, but that will take a little time. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time and I think would go a long way towards helping me realize this comic the way I want it to be done.
I’m going to try and focus more on doing good quality physical medium work and try minimize my use of these programs until then, it has been fun experimenting but to get these things just how I want them takes time and at this stage, it’s far too time consuming especially as I am familiarizing myself with these new programs and tools I wish to incorporate, so I hope anyone who is interested will not be too disappointed in the first few parts. I will be able to do a revised edition in colour down the line, and will try add color where I can.
If I am being honest with you, I knew this would probably happen. I have learned a lot these last few weeks, and I feel I have accomplished some really cool stuff. I’m trying to accept that some things might not be as great as I initially thought, but I cannot let myself stray from the path. Enough hype, I’m really going to put my head down now.
A lot of things have fallen into place these last couple weeks. I’ve had some really smart ideas for the story, but these parts are much later on. I’m going to write them anyway, as soon as the next 5 pages are done. I’m going for 10 pages now, half of what I had originally intended. I am disappointed in these developments – not only are my artworks not going to be in striking color, and I’m not going to be able to produce as much of it as I want, but I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself.
Realistically speaking, 10 pages gives me 3 days per page in a month roughly, so I will be able to focus on quality rather than worrying about how I’m going to get to X number of pages. If I’m doing other things as well, which, naturally, I have other things I want to do as well, and once I become more proficient I will be able to produce things a little quicker.
I’m setting these goals and creating this thing on my own, anyway. I’m trying to deliver something I think people will find worthwhile, but I unfortunately can’t overburden myself.
I can do up to 5 pages in a day, I think, it’s just getting the ball rolling on some of these artworks takes a lot of research and sometimes even practise. That’s why I’ve been doing the art livestreams in the first place, and, well, it’s been fun! Lonely for the most part, but less lonely than doing it offline since at least there is the possibility someone will stop and chat.
Anyway, that’s it from me for now, I hope you have a lovely weekend!
